I had a daycare dad come to me and tell me that his 9 year old son was grounded from certain things at home (watching tv, playing video games) and asked me not to allow him to do this at my house either. Anybody else ever had this happen before?

Yes but I have in my contract that if something happens in my daycare and I correct it that I do not expect the parents to discipline at home just as they should not expect me to discipline at daycare any errors that have been corrected at home.
Most of those such as TV, video games etc wouldn't be a problem though since kids do not really watch TV here and video games are only for special holidays if I even allow at all. Any activities would be unfair to siclude him from since a lot of effort goes into planning and such. I just don't feel that it's fair. I wouldn't tell my child's teacher to bench her during recess because she was in trouble at school.- Flag

We once had the opposite happen. Once we had a 3 year old who grew up with us. By the time he was an afterschooler he was no longer enrolled. He was around 8-9 years old at this time. He was a trouble maker at 3 as he was as a 8-9 year old. Anyway he got suspended for whatever reason for 3 days. Mom had 2 of the days off but she needed care for the one day.
Well being the softie my former director was when she heard a sob story, she let him stay. She failed to realize that we also had a field trip to the movies that day with our pre-k class. I mentioned that and right away the mother is "oh I will pay for that too" and she got out her wallet. Well my FD saw cash so she allowed this.
After the mother left, I said "gee that is sure some punishment!". I was told that we were helping a mother in need and we HAD to bring him along because of ratios. I say that is BS. My FD knew that I KNEW once she saw cash that was it.- Flag

I however find that certain games on the wii is an excellent form of exercise......esp on days that the children are unable to go outside!- Flag
