I am thinking about providing diapers and wipes as part of my services. I am wondering how many other providers out there do this and if you find parents to be appreciative of the service or weary of it. Also, if you provide diapers do you give a discount to families that use cloth diapers or charge them the same?

I provide wipes at no charge. I wouldn't want to provide disposable diapers due to possible allergies/sensitivities (though I admit sometimes it's been tempting).
I may someday provide cloth diapering to children under 2, built into the rates (which would be higher, perhaps $5/week). That would probably when I move to providing care for the birth -2 crowd exclusively.Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!- Flag

I provide wipes, but not the diapers. When I only had one or two in diapers, I had the parents provide the wipes too. However, it makes it easier when I have 5 in diapers to just provide my own and not have 5 different containers of wipes!- Flag

I provide all cloth diapers and wipes to all children still in diapers.
I just ask the families provide me with 5 disposables each week to send them home in.
All my famillies use disposables at home but all are cloth diapered here. I have 4 in diapers right now and care for ages 3 months - 5yrs.- Flag

I provide wipes and diapers. I just explain in the interview if their child needs specific diapers they would need to provide them. One issue I did not forsee was pull-ups. They are much more expensive and I didn't plan to provide them. So, potty training children go into a diaper at naptime if they are having accidents during nap, none have complained. Some parents send pull-ups, some don't. I prefer not having to remind parents to bring anything to daycare.
I would love to provide cloth diapers, as I hate the waste. Our state says you need to use a diaper service or send cloth diapers home with parents.MnMum married to DH 9 years

I provide the wipes. I have 5 in diapers. I can't stand having so many boxes of wipes. Every once in a while I'd accidently grab the wrong wipe. Then remembering to put X amount of wipes back into A's box. I also use alot of wipes. Hate hearing from parents about how fast I go through a box. I only like Huggies wipes. The others are just to thin. And there is some kind that it seems like you smear bm around on the baby bottom.
Although if a parent wants there child to have a certain type they need to provide it. I stock up when they are on sale and will not guarantee that they will always be sent fee.- Flag

All mine are in diapers right now. I charge a small amount more than some providers in my area to help with the cost. Parents seem to like the fact they only have to bring their child and a few outfits. I tell them in the interview I use Huggies brand wipes and Fisher price diapers. If their child has an issue with either of those then they will need to provide their own, no discount is offered or given. I also tell them I will not provide pull ups. I encourage parents to purchase the super thick training pants instead.- Flag

I provide wipes but not diapers. When I started I didn't provide wipes either but hated having a bunch of different containers and brands I didn't like using and hated feeling like parents thought I ran out of them too soon so I switched to providing them myself. I will not provide diapers - cost is too high although its tempting when I have 2 kids right now that are in too small sizes. I've decided that next time I need diapers from them I am going to tell them they need to move up a size. I chickened out last time but its getting ridiculous trying to get them to cover their behinds, LOL!- Flag

I do. The first several years I had parents bring them. I got tired of having to remind them, have them forget, have to take a diaper out of another child's cubby...so I raised my rates by $10 a week and started buying my own diapers. At least that way I knew when I was out of a size and could load up for myself.- Flag

I started providing diapers and wipes a year or so ago. I got tired of parents forgetting them time after time. Some went 3 weeks before they finally brought in a package then it would be gone b/c I would have to pay back all the other kids for what I borrowed from them. I also found it to be a good way to attract some business. Mosr of the providers around here dont provide these things. I dont discount or adjust there fee in any way. Havent had any that used cloth. Parents are delighted that they dont have to bring in diapers. Just keep track of your receipts!

I provide both diapers and wipes, I raised my rates and started providing diapers a year ago or so, I figured its so much easier not having to remind people, and not only would they forget to bring them once in a while, I would feel really guilty when I would forget to reming them a few days ahead, and all the sudden I'm out, and forgot to say something, It evens out in the end with the price increase, AND Its tax deductible, so I feel like I make money by providing diapers, If the kids or parents have an issue with the brands I use, they can supply their own, with no discount, but I have never had anyone do this.- Flag

I supply diapers and wipes. Same reasons as everyone else. My families really appreciate it, I think.
It started out with a Starbucks trade,.
I buy Luvs normally and I just tell people what I use. I advertise as cloth diaper friendly but haven't had any takers. I'd figure it out if it became an issue depending on who was providing the diapers and who was cleaning them.- Flag
