The Obnoxious DCP

I have a sign on my door that says, "Please DO NOT ring the doorbell before 8am and between 1pm and 3pm Monday through Friday."

Why is it I've had the same exact DCP ring my doorbell every day this week so far?!

Why does it take getting nasty with someone just to get the point across?! I don't want to get nasty but there is a good reason why I ask this...my own kids don't get up until 8am!!!!

Put a piece of red tape across it. Maybe the parent will get the idea.

Tape a little cardboard sign directly over the doorbell that reads "Josh/Jenny, do NOT ring the doorbell. Check your watch first." If pointing the parent out to everyone and singling the parent out for everyone else to see doesn't get the parent to think before they ring the bell then, I don't know what will.

Maybe just prohibiting that parent from using the doorbell period will fix that. Same cardboard sign tactic, but "Josh/Jenny, do Not ring the doorbell."

I don't understand why some parents have to make simple matters so difficult sometimes. I know you said you talked to the parent already but maybe you have to talk to the parent on a daily basis over and over again to get them to understand.

"You know DCP, I have spoken to you about not ringing the doorbell during certain times at least 14 times and you don't seem to grasp the concept. How can I help you understand that you can't ring the doorbell before 8am or between 1pm and 3pm. Everyone else here understands so I'm confused as to why you are having such a hard time with it?"

If the parent says somethig like "It's just a doorbell sheesh" or something to that nature then a simple "You're right, it's just a simple doorbell. Again, if it's so simple then why are you not grasping the idea?"

My daycare room is at the front of the house. I usually am within seconds of getting the door because I see parents pull in. I wish I could disable it but after hours we need it.
