I thInk it was the way she handled it. By saying I wanted to see how well you do your job.. That's bologna in my eyes

If she were to come about it a different way I would be more than open ti work with this child and family!!

I watched a child with this same thing but they had to take medication for it. I would let her know that you need to meet and discuss exactly what his condition is and let her know that you need a doctors note stating exactly what kind of care or what to look for with him. Does he take medication for this, what happens if he doesn't come out of it, do you need special training, etc.

Just because she says don't worry doesn't mean you don't step up to the plate and learn everything you can about this if you decide to keep him. I would be leary though as she lied to you about a medical condition what else might she lie about.

In my home care agency. If a child has a history of seizures they have to be cared for by a nurse. We legally cannot let nurses assistants care for them. I say all that to say that it takes extra care/training in order to care for them. The mother can help educate you and you can educate yourself. But just basically saying "its no problem" is not good enough. There are all kinds of issues with seizures. DO NOT take this condition lightly!

This mother seriously lacked good judgement by leaving her son without providing medical info. Before taking this child full time, I would request a meeting with BOTH parents, asking for all necessary info on this child. I would also ask for a note for the dr outlining the proper care for his seizures.

My forms ask for all medical conditions and/or allergies.
