I have a 3 year old dcb and he is totally abnormal this morning. I could tell as soon as he walked in the door that something wasn't right. He's been here since 8 and hasn't moved from the couch. His mom said he didn't eat breakfast, so I offered him other food and he just sat it down. I offered him juice and he drank a little. I decided to feel him and he feels quite warm...my thermometer is on the fritz so I can't exactly check for real.
I e-mailed Mom and told her that within the next hour if he doesn't act better, she would have to come get him. I am VERY strict on my illness policies. She understood and said Dad would come get him and to let him know if he needs to come. So, I just e-mailed an update to both of them and Dad responds with "he might experiencing allergies" and that "none of them have been sick so he can't be contagious". I'm sorry but I don't get allergies much and not sure but do you get a fever with them?
I'm a little annoyed at Dad that he thinks he can just blow it off that his kid has a fever. Also, that I have other kids in care and I can't RISK anyone else getting sick.
So my question is, should I be annoyed?? This DCB has never been sick in my care but has been experiencing running nose, sneezing, and definitely congested all around. I know these are allergy symptoms but they can be linked to many other things.
