    Anyone Here NAFCC Accredited?

Our state is in the process of starting a star rating system. If we are accredited, we automatically earn 4 stars.

I'm thinking about getting accredited, and was wondering if anyone has any tips, or info about how hard it is, or what the process is like.

    TIA!

I am. And my tip to you is stay organized, and get fingerprinting done early. That took 6 weeks to get results. Also go through the book they suggest you get and rate each area, and make improvements. It was stressful, but once she left from her visit I felt great!

And with me having associates in related field I got automatic 5 star! What state are you in!?

We start out with a two star here as private home daycare service. You have to continue in your education and keep up standards on everything!

so even though ive already been fingerprinted through the state for licensing, i have to do it again for them?

I am in NY. they are still in the trial stage of the quality stars. they havent started it yet, they are saying another year or so. but im the type to want a head start on everything...

we are given only 1 star as a registered program, we have to work for everything from there. if we are accredited, we automatically earn 4 stars, and then our education earns us more points from there. or, we have to work our tails off to earn our way up. i figured i'd go through the accreditation now, so im ready to go when they implement the quality stars.

i'm now working on getting my CDA. it's not as many points as a higher degree, but one step at a time i suppose.

I am in the process of becoming accreditated. I am hoping to send in my application/required paperwork in the next few weeks. I'm just waiting on the fingerprint report from the FBI. I recommend getting it done early as well, as that is the only thing holding me up at this point.
I am a military provider, so I don't have any input about the star rating system. I've only read about it on here.

*side note* I'm from NY too, western NY to be specific.

I didnt have to be fingerprinted in WI, so I have no idea if you have to do again, I would assume not, but better to check!

I got a head start on it too, because they just implemented a youngstar program at end of summer, so when I heard this, made me just go for it too! I am glad I did, and the process made me see myself in a different light, and realize that even though I may not get "praise" from parents, I know that I have an awesome program!

Good luck to you guys. Feel free to ask any questions!

What is the difference between a CDA and being accredited? How many stars do you get for getting your CDA? I asked my R&R but they couldn't give my any answers

Great except,.... When you are changing diaper, remember to keep one hand on child at all times. I removed pants, had my hand 1/4 an inch from legs, never walked away, and when I used both hands to open dipe I got dinged. It was a fraction of an inch, a fraction of a second. And she nailed me.

Sorry, couldn't remember.....thought maybe I could help but I think MN laws and regs are way different than NY.

Our state does not have a star rating system ....yet. They are in the pilot stages of the program but I do believe it will come to fruition soon.

For us, we have a along list of things we must to do in order to reach different star levels but when I compared it to the one Wisconsin has, it is different so I am believing that each state has it's own set of rules and guidelines.
