    Keeping Names Straight...

    no not of the kids of the parents. One mom says to me this morning at drop off " can you call me mama? Its just an older term and I dont want my daughter calling me mom" Usually what I say is " so and so your mom or dad is here" Do I really have to say Girl, your mama is here?

    Plus with all the grandparents with noni, nana, nino, uela, peace grandma( i have no idea why she is named that!) and nono, papi,papa, then throw in the mom, mama, mommie, dad, dada, popo, etc.

    I am so confused. I tried to keep all the family members nicknames straight, so i just say mom and dad is here, grandma is here, etc. I mean they know who i am talking about!

    Anyone else with me on this?!

    Lol. Too funny!!! I'd tell mom she gets to use whatever she wants at home but here she can be mom or dad. Which would she prefer??

    A
    And for the record I use nana, papaw, mom & dad for everyone. Saves time headache and frustration.

      With family dynamics and the different situations people are in now days I have resorted to

      "Billy, your ride is here." Works in ALL situations.

          so glad I don't that problem. ::

          I always just say Mom or Dad or Grandpa or Grandma.

          I would surely mess up if I had to say anything else. ::

                Thanks for the ideas. Will be using one of them from now on. Today when she picked up I said "come on girl, lets get your shoes on, time to go". Then mom walked in the door and asked right away "Do you remember what I want her to call me?!" How tacky.

                  I absolutely HATE the word "mama". I'm not sure why.

                  The kids have grandparents with different names, but, they are common, Nana, Grandma, Abuela.

                    I hate it when my kids call me mama or momma. ugh! I find it disrespectful to me. I don't know why. Mom and Mommy is what they call me. I'm not saying momma or mama is disrespectful, I just don't want MY kids calling me that. My DH calls me mama.

                    I just say "look who's here!" and the kids will fill in the rest with Mommy, Daddy, Dada, or whatever else.

                      I do request that my kids friends call me by my last name, Mrs. ***, but that is a respect thing. You are not my friend, you are my childs friend. When we are adults you can call me by my first name....Plus Ill give you a cookie if you can say it right...
