I don't know about not giving a notice. I would see if your new job if you could start in two weeks so you are able to give proper notice. You would be livid if your parents did this to you. I guess you could just explain to your parents and hope for the best and that they can be understanding of your new adventure.

      Good luck-
You're being a brat. She said in home child care isn't for her and she's taking steps to remedy that situation.

I agree 100% with harperluu!!! What is wrong with trying something out and realizing AND recognizing it isn't right for you? I think it shows some real insight and honesty! Good for you mommymuffin!!

Any updates on the job yet?

Good for you for recognizing that childcare isn't a good match for you! Too many people stay in this business and become miserable and resentful - and the daycare kids pay for it.

I do think, however, that it's necessary to follow through with your contract. All the providers here get so angry when a parent doesn't give proper notice or pay out no matter the situation - be it just not wanting to, or not being able to - so it's completely hipocritical, unprofessional and actually illegal (due to the contract) to not give the notice promised.

          Do the right thing.

          And good luck.

I agree with this completely!!! Calling me a brat is very unprofessional especially not even knowing me, and for differing with your opinion.

I think the interview went really well. She said she would get back to me this afternoon...I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting.

Thanks for all your feedback. I would be able to give 1 weeks notice for sure!! I understand 2 weeks is the best scenerio. When we had our 4 month old baby in dc the provider told me on friday at pick up that she was closing her dc. (on cl the next week I saw her ad...so I know she lied to me.)
Well we had an awful time the whole next week, taking off work, calling around, visiting dcs at night. It was bad. We only got a weekend notice. That is why I think 1 weeks notice is fair enough for the situation I am in.

Keep fingers crossed...she should call soon.......

Congrats!! I'm terrible at writing letters, so I usually just say what ever I have to. I would say something like, I just wanted to let you know that I have been offered a job and I'll be starting on such and such a date. Then if you do know anyone with openings you could tell them. Will you be able to give them very much notice? I know you were concerned you could only give them one week.

                            CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! How awesome for you!!

I would write a simple but short note explaining that unfortunately child care is not working for you and you will be closing your doors as of *** day. etc "Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your child's life and I wish you the best for the future. "

I don't think you need to go into any long details, just short and sweet. Your choices are YOURS and you shouldn't have to explain anything other than it isn't working and you are closing.

What is your start date for work?
