Where Could I Find An Old Chalkboard?

I've looked on Craigslist with no luck in my area. I would love to add one to my daycare room! I'm thinking about calling a few schools to see if they have any old ones laying around?

Have you tried chalkboard paint? You can get it for under $10 and you can paint it on anything! I had an old board I painted and now I have a really nice chalkboard for outside. My daughter painted the front of her refrigerator. You can get it at any hardware store or even walmart carries it.

We couldn't find a large chalkboard that didn't cost a fortune, so we made this one for just a few dollars. My husband just made a frame and we used chalkboard paint. It's been used daily for about 10 years now.

Chalkboard paint is a great idea. I know I've seen old-style chalkboards for sale at antique malls for like $60.

I agree with using the chalkboard paint. You can either paint a piece of wood and hang it as the chalkboard or paint it right onto the wall. I know one of the dollar stores here in Ontario sells a roll of "chalk paper". You just unroll it onto your wall (and it peels off nicely when you don't want it anymore). It looks just like a chalkboard too and it really works...i've used it myself. They also sell the same type of thing but it's a "white board". I think they are $1.00/roll so very cheap!
I don't know where you live, but the store I bought them at is called Dollarama...if you have one, you should go check it out.
