I always say child care provider or daycare care provider. When asked what I do, I say I run a family daycare home. I have gotten less confused looks with this than I did when I nannied. No one knew what a nanny was back in the early 90s. I had to add like Mary Poppins without the umbrella.

Love that term, but I get enough strange looks as it is. I just say Home Daycare Provider or I run a Home Daycare.

I read this thing the other day where someone asked a lady her job title and she told them

"I am a research associate in the field of child development and Human Relations."

In the story I think she was a stay at home mom not a daycare provider but if you think about it we really are Child development and human relations research analyst.

On taxes, Home Childcare Provider. To people, I have a small home daycare. I don't have any formal education and I am license exempt since I keep less than 5 but I do it full-time so I feel like babysitter is a bit simple for the time/ work involved.
