I read in another post that you have little angels who play together so lovely and need no adult intervention.
How can I get that?
I have 12 preschoolers, ages 3 and 4. I have an assistant.
We don't have hitting or fighting or agression. We have occasional toy-taking when one moves up from the Two-year-old class or is newly enrolled. No one likes to play alone, they love to play cooperatively. Everybody cleans up beautifully. I have one toy-destroyer and one dumper (who is ironically the same child), and he usually sat at the table with toys of my choosing.
What we do have is BOSSINESS, cattiness, and bickering, especially with the girls. No one gets along while playing because everyone wants to be the boss. Someone gets angry and wrecks the game. Tattling every 2 minutes. We put out fires the whole day.
I feel like everyone needs to play alone for a while, but that would be very hard because of the way the space is set up. I have about 10 interest areas spread out between three small rooms, and only 5 are available on any given day. To give everyone their own space would be be a supervision nightmare...
Even if I did that....then what?
How do you teach your kids to play together.
