    Looking Ahead To Winter..

Does anyone close for school snow days? Late starts or Early outs (snow)

I guess this question is mainly for Blackcat, Sugar Magnolia, Meeko? Those of us whos daycares are not also our primary residence.

I am planning on movign 45 minutes away and my policy of "I can always get across town" doesn't looking like it will hold for the new drive. My asssitant also lives out in the country and has never coem in on snow days.

I have about half teachers families. I have also had nearly every family brave the road to bring me there kids on bad snow days and then go back home.....

I've had more than a few hair-raising drives to work, but this is Utah and we usually don't have snow days. In fact it's a running joke in this state when we see other parts of the country shut down. We just plow through and allow plenty of extra travel time. If we shut down every time we had a heavy snowfall, we'd be closed most of the winter!!

I HAVE been able to go home early a few times due to parents picking up early ahead of incoming storms. Kind of nice to have everyone gone by 3PM!!!

Nope. Never. Snow is part of life where I live. In all my years here, I have only had to take the snowmobile into work instead of my Jeep once!

I have closed early in anticipation of a big storm but most my parents were trying to get home early so they wouldn't have to deal with road conditions and such but it was never my doing....they all picked up early so I did what any self respecting business owner would do and left too...LOL!

There are times where my DH has to plow our mile long driveway so I can get out and into town, but I do have 4-wheel drive and I just leave a little earlier to arrive at my site safely. DH also plows my daycare home too, so he has it all cleared out before I get there.

As far as school closings and early outs, I don't provide services to SA kids so that never affects me.

If we had snow, I would definitely shut down and leave town. But then again, if we have a few snowflakes, everyone gets exited. I've seen a light frosting that lasted 5 mins 3 times in 35 years.
