He acts like Im killing him. I am! With fresh food that was picked from the farm the day before.

          THE HORROR!!
Why is it unfair that he didn't do nothin' but gets something? The kids who do-get. The kids who dont do-don't get. kwim?

I refuse to teach my kiddos that life is fair. Life is not fair. If you want something then do something. His choice. NO one is forcing him.

I reward for all kinds of little "caught in the act" deeds of kindness. If you don't get caught, then you get nothing and I don't feel one bit bad.

My neighbor just got a brand new car and a great promotion at work...I am a bit jealous but I don't expect the same. He worked for that....I didn't.

My daughter is 6 1/2 and she spent 4 days at Nannyde's during the summer. Everytime I talked to my daughter she would brag about what she got to eat and Nan would complain about how much that food she put away! ::::::

Blended or pureed, my kid ate it at 6 and was begging for more!

And for those non believers...my daughter hates peas and squash. Little did she know she devoured it while at Nan's house!

                No worries...

I happen to have wonderful eaters who eat pretty much whatever I serve them, veggies and all! My thoughts on serving the DCK's is this: It is my job to BUY the healthy food. It is my job to COOK the healthy food. It is my job to SERVE the healthy food. It is NOT MY JOB to convince, trick, or force a child into eating it. Sure, I would tell them its so yummy, encourage them to try something new, etc., but that is it. If they are hungry they will eat. If sweets are not an option & all they have access to is a healthy, well balanced meal then that is what they will eat. I can't tell you how many times I enroll a new child and the parents say, "Oh, s/he won't eat fruits and veggies" and within a week the child is tucking into homemade veggie soup, chili, and stir fry and eating broccoli like it is going out of style. If a child is reluctant and is wasting a lot of food at first, just give him/her small portions of everything (they can always ask for more but you are not wasting a ton of food).
