Freakin' out! First home visit this week!

I've been doing this for 5 months now but haven't had anyone come out to the house yet. But they are finally coming this week for my first visit. I'm so nervous!! I hope it's more of an informational type visit than a critique type one. I would love some advice about stuff and more information about resources but I am so nervous I'm not going to "look" good. How were your first visits from state?

Good luck. I'm sure if you've been doing this job for 5 months now then your doing just fine. Have a glass of water take a deep breath and relax. You'll do just fine.

Does your state have a licensing web site? Ours has copies of the exact form a licensor will be using when doing an inspection. There are various ones.....initial inspection, announced inspection, unannounced inspection etc.

Obviously yours is an announced inspection. Check and see if there is a copy of that checklist online. Then go down it yourself. If you meet all the criteria...then not a thing to worry about!

And always remember that you cannot be written up for ANYTHING that is not in print in your state's rules. Your inspector can have all the suggestions and opinions in the world....but cannot write you up on anything that is not in the official rules.

Take a deep breath and relax.

Treat the inspector with respect and kindness and you will most likely get the same.

Have a list of questions ready to ask so that you don't forget anything.
