Anyone That Thought Cash Out Retirement To Do This?

I don't want to even think about doing this in the event I get back to teaching at some point due to want or necessity but I feel like I will have to do something or I will need to try to find work at a daycare making about $5 less an hour to do so if I can even find anything and give up my daycare which I don't really want to do...something has to give soon with the next couple weeks being crucial to getting clients.

I have a sign out front and car magnet signs, business cards and flyers out where I could put them...ads on CL and Kiji, a paid add online, fb page, daycare.com listing, and a webpage...

Got one call so far this week and haven't heard back from them yet, I have one possible infant that wants to start the end of oct but idk if I can even do that bc the baby will only be about a week or so old, not 6 weeks and I think they have to be 6 weeks to start in a licensed facility but not sure on that..but would still be several weeks after the baby is born if I keep the baby before I get paid because the woman is on vouchers and I have never taken them so I have to get all the paperwork and stuff sent off to the state to take it and it's not a for sure anyway since she hasn't filled out the paperwork for me and all that yet.

yikes, I thought I would have more kids by now and now I am questioning if I should have took some of the kids with weird schedules so I would have some income instead of not bothering with them. ugh

do you have a r and r? you can message me privately and Ill try to find you another resource or two locally to you. I may be even able to get your name into some private lists in NC, depending on where you are,.. my cousin may be able to help with ad placement,...

      Two things I can suggest.

When it comes to advertising there is so much saturation these days from other competitors that it is important that you give your advertisements time to propagate. Usually Google will "sandbox" a page for several months but on a site like Daycare.com the search results will appear in a matter of hours/days.

The other option is to offer services that other providers are not willing to offer. You might consider short term care/off hour care at the beginning in order to get clients. You know the old saying. "Beggars can't be choosers"

All of my dck's have weird schedules. I wasn't getting any calls for fulltime care, so I started to take what came.

Now I have 7 kids on my schedule. I required that they at least have 2 days per week. A couple of them come 3-4 days some weeks. It isn't as much money as I could have been making with fulltime kids, but is more then not making anything.

One thing that is hard is some weeks I end up with more children on my schedule then allowed and I just pray it isn't the day licensing shows up.

          Re. taking out retirement:

I didn't initally take out funds to start-up, but when my hubby and I decided to add him on as my full-time partner and him leave his job we took out his 401K to expand and cover the time period it could take for enrollment to fill. We were fortunate to fill up right away and didn't need to use as much as we took out, but it was nice to have the cushion, just in case.

It was almost 14 years ago that he joined me and we have been full with a waitlist ever since.

If your sure this is the career you want to pursue and have a passion for working with children, I say do it.
