I take more offense at her rudeness than I do the animal being killed.

We live in a yuppie area, and dh always plays spot the vegetarian/vegan when we go out (which is hilarious, because dh is a vegetarian), and I kid you NOT someone ALWAYS mentions it during a meal and tries to shame the meat eaters.

They had an entire conversation about "would you eat your dog/cat" at our last couples dinner, and dh wonders why I just tell them to leave the bottle of wine on the table.

I'm obnoxious and just go back to whatever delicious animal I'm eating and talk about how wonderful rare beef is.

That's hilarious. Especially about the wine.

I just got home from Florida last night and I don't re-open until Tuesday morning, July 19; Yep, you guessed it, I was woken by a DCP banging on the door @ 7:15 today. His wife swore I was open - NOT. I need this day to shop & wash - one more day of sleeping in would've been nice too. Bad enough I still have to fix the car from when i was runoff the road last Saturday in Macon, GA

I hope everyone in the car is okay! Given the bad weather you experienced in FL, being run off the road in GA and then having a dcp wake you up at the butt crack of dawn on the last day you had to sleep in ... I bet you could use another week just to recuperate!

I would reply with " you can put the $40 you owe me towards your gifts " .

I have thought that I should send them a card with a note saying that their gift is the $40 they owe. I didn't go after the money because honestly, I was glad to be rid of the family and have them gone without terming, and didn't think it was worth it to chase after $40. I WOULD go after the money had it been someone who had truly crossed me, though.

Backstory: last fall I took a medically fragile child for a mom who NEEDED daycare. It went OK. I never really cared for mom because she always seemed evasive and a little weird. After about 12 weeks, she suddenly pulled without notice. Said child was going to be cared for by a relative. OK, whatever. Next week, I see posts on Facebook about how lucky she was to have FINALLY gotten into the daycare that she's been on the wait list for, and how WONDERFUL it was there, and how GRATEFUL she is to know her child is safe and well cared for. Ok, double whatever.

Here's the vent: This bio has invited me to her wedding! AND her child's birthday party. I ignored the invites. I don't have a relationship with these people, I don't even like them. Now, I get demands for gifts! I'm supposed to attend her bridal home party (with a jewelry company) to help her finance her wedding jewelry, it's OK if I don't come, but she really NEEDS me to buy something. She send me a wish list for her daughter's birthday party, and twice I've received messages from her with her with links to her bridal registry. I'm also invited to the bridal shower and the wedding reception.

How stupid are people? Does she really think that I'm going to show up for these events, or even send a gift? She left me owing $40. She hasn't directly bad mouthed me, but she has gushed and gushed about her new daycare, which rubbed me the wrong way (her new daycare, BTW, tries to poach my clients on a regular basis, straight out asking them to come to her place because she's cheaper). Our relationship was probably the most superficial daycare relationship I've ever had. There was no implication of friendship or even that we liked one another.

I can't believe that she can't take a hint. I've thought of just blocking her messages on FB, but I'm not threatened by them, just in utter awe of her sense of entitlement.

A friend of mine lost her husband in a motorcycle accident a month ago. In a couple of weeks they are having a pig roast benefit with proceeds going to the family. This is a family that probably needs all the help they can get...
Anyway, another friend shared it on their Facebook page and some woman is complaining about the pig roast as she's a vegetarian and she thinks it's awful, etc.

I get having ethical issues with meat consumption, but a BENEFIT page is not the place to make your opinion known.
At most a "I don't eat meat, how can I donate?" Would be the limit.

My son has gone to church camp the past two years....first year I was nervous, but this year....not so much....he loved it....he is a picky eater which worried me the most but I firmly believe NOW that if a child gets hungry....they will eat ANYTHING! ::

I'm sure they are having a great time, but I would be so much more relaxed if I got some confirmation of that.

I'm sure they'll have a blast but it was the first time and we were all very anxious yesterday.

My son has gone to church camp the past two years....first year I was nervous, but this year....not so much....he loved it....he is a picky eater which worried me the most but I firmly believe NOW that if a child gets hungry....they will eat ANYTHING! ::

Awww....do you get to talk with them at all? They'll probably be kept so busy they won't give you a 2nd thought. JK It's usually the anticipation of something new and different but I'll bet they're having a great time!

Yikes! I hope you and your family are okay after being run off the road!

As for DCP banging on your door, I hope they got an earful or atleast put their tail between their legs and humbly left once they realized you were closed.

I haven't sent home an injury report in months, and then my brand spanking new dck did a face plant today and scraped up her forehead and her nose. I grabbed her hand, or it would have been much worse but STILL.
