    No discounts!
I don't cut the care, so why cut the payment? Day care doesn't exactly pay mega bucks as it is!

If it's offered as a marketing deal, then parents can be grateful. But I think it's rude if they ask for it or expect it. They are literally asking me to lower my income just to make life easier for them. It's not my job to help them pay their bills.

Do they ask Walmart to give them a discount every time they buy two loaves of bread instead of one?

I don't ask the girl who cuts my two daughters' hair for a discount because she's doing two haircuts. She isn't doing less work, so why should I pay her less?

Same idea here. I don't offer a lesser standard of care for child #2, so I get paid the same as child #1.

I've regretted every discount I've given. I have part time brothers....full price should be $150/week but they are paying $65/week which is $10 off each child. Older boy is going to K next year and then I will do no more discounts especially on a part time child

**sigh** here I give a BIG sibling discount and it has now come to bite me in the tush. $35 for first kid and only $10 for the second..oh how I regret it! Almost all my kids have siblings. Come May my rates are going up for the sibling care but still a good deal.. $20 a day for the sibling.

I don't give sibling discounts. I used to but I phased it out. I don't offer less quality care to the second child so why would I give a discount? It also keeps my sibling groups low (not as many families with more than 1 child). I like it this way because if a family leaves I only have one spot to fill instead of the 2.

No discounts. I don't charge tuition fees or days there not in care so I kind of feel like that is a discount in some ways.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll just keep my rates at where they're at...with no discounts.

I liked how you said that! Good thinking

nope, I did in the beginning but like others I ended up regretting it. I had one who couldn't believe I wouldn't give a discount for 3 kids and I ended up letting her know that taking them was more of a liability for me than anything else - imagine they move or something - that's 60% of my income walking out the door.
