Please tell me this is normal for day care. This was the first day I ever feed more than more day care child more than just afternoon snack.I vacuum at least after every meal (I have carpet) and after every project....
I teach the kids...
flat on your bottom in your chair
legs under the table. Plate under your chin on the table.
Eat over your plate/bowl...
If I see them eating off to the side then I remind them to eat over their plate/bowl- Flag

Every time I sweep up after a bunch of Kadiddles eat lunch I'm reminded of the scene from the Casper movie where the uncles eat and everything falls through them onto the floor and Casper sweeps up with a wisk broom and dust pan. It looks pretty similar. ::

I sweep after every meal. I also teach them to eat over the table or their plates but it doesn't always work so well. Especially with crackers....why must they shred crackers to dust somehow and get them everywhere?? ::

Its strange. I have a class of 3/4's and a class of mostly 5's. The younger one's make less of a mess, and clean up their area without me having to tell them. The 5's play at table, spill food like no tomorrow, and will get up to play, leaving the plate, cup and food all over the table and floor. I guess because the older ones go to school and there's really no rules for elementary school lunch. Play, talk with your mouth full, drop food all over the floor...doesn't matter, just be finished when the bell rings- Flag
