    Fundraisers?

    Fundraisers?

We wanted to do a special field trip this summer to the zoo. Last year we had older kiddos and a smaller group, so we took the train and the bus (public transport). This year, our group is bigger and that would require so much planning that it would be easier to rent a school bus.

I need to help offset the cost of the school bus and instead of asking for a field trip fee was thinking of doing a fundraiser. Anything you’ve done or participated in that was fun?

Our local school did a play doh event where you bought those mini play dohs for $1/each and they had tons of tables set up. They had TONS of student volunteers so it was free labor and they made about $500 (crazy right?). I know most of it was from families like mine though that donated a lot, so curious about any cool ones you’ve been too.

I know renting the bus is a deductible expense and I should just pay for it, but my 2 favorite families are leaving this summer and I really really want to do this for them. You know, send them off with a bang …. But don’t want to go broke doing it

the bus is $300 plus tip. So if I can get about $150 that’ll help tremendously.

Perhaps you could have the DCK decorate cookies for the upcoming July 4th holiday and do a bake sale or even an auction/silent auction? Maybe sell old toys/DC items you don’t use anymore.

I like the Play-doh idea, but would it draw a large enough crowd to bring in money?

I know this would sacrifice your personal time - but what about a Parent’s Night Out on a Friday/Saturday night? Parents drop off at 5:00, you feed the kids and play/watch movies. Then the parents pick up at 9:00. Charge $25/$30 for one child and $10 for each additional child? Our schools HS cheer squad does this around Christmas time. I thought it was brilliant!

We personally don't do fundraisers for our daycare because we feel lik e parent's won't participate and also because we hate asking people for money all the time. Our teachers did an amazon wishlist and a calendar fundraiser where people pick a number and you pay ever how much for the number you pick (e.g. 1=$1.00 etc) until the whole calendar is full.

Sell candy bars. We have small businesses that will display candy bar boxes for fundraisers.

I did a couple fundraisers about 15 years ago and we did well; we did them with the home interior candles; not sure if they still have those. We offered a free week of child care to the highest seller; we made close to $1000 each time; I think we got 50% of the sales.

Disclaimer: I am not sure this crew would work as hard as those families did years ago??

Yes chat.daycare.com is the new site, this site.

Forum.daycare is the now the old site and it is going to be closed down in a few weeks.

Amazon has chocolate bars/candy and near me there is a store that sells the boxes. But a big box store like Costco or BJ might have them too.
