My front sidewalk is starting to crumble and will need to be replaced soon. For tax purposes, would that be considered a maintance expense, land improvement, or something else? Thank you!
Replacing a sidewalk would be considered a land improvement because it will increase the value of the land. As a land improvement you must depreciate it over 15 years. If you simple patched it, this would be considered a repair (one year expense).
