Unfinished Basement To Be Counted In Total Sq Footage?

My basement is unfinished. I read somewhere that Garage space should be counted in total sq footage. Should I also count the unfinished basement in calculating the T/S %?

Are you allowed to use your basement for daycare? If not, then only if you use it regularly for storage.

You can also count the area that has the furnace in it, if I recall correctly.

          basements

IRS rules say you must count your basement as part of the total square feet of your home. You may be able to count the basement as regular use for your business if you have: laundry room, storage area for stuff used to maintain your home, furnace and hot water heater, etc.
