    Cement Slab And Taxes

I am considering putting in a cement slab on my playground this spring. It will be used only for daycare, my children are 12 and 13 and no longer play on the playground after hours, so it will be 100% daycare.

What are my options for deducting this?? Is it something that can be 179'd? Would it be a land improvement or what would it be classified as??

    Any insight will be appreciated.

    cement slab

A cement slab would be considered a land improvement, thus it must be depreciated over 15 years. In your situation you can depreciate 100% of the cost because it's not going to be used for personal purposes. You can't use the Section 179 rule, but you could use the additional 50% depreciation rule (if it still is around in 2011).
