    Outdoor Carpet

I put outdoor carpet on my front deck so no one would slip when its wet, and a big outdoor carpet by the stairs to the enterance of the deck. Would this be something I can deduct or because I stapled it to the deck, does it become part of the home depreciation? I'm pretty much done with expenses, but just wanted to know for "knowledge" sake. LOL

Absolutely! I am doing this on my back deck too. If your kids or parents walk on it then deduct it.

If the cost is less than $100 deduct the time-space% in the year you installed it. If it cost more than $100 depreciate it over 7 years. If you put it in 2010 you can use the additional 50% depreciation rule.
