Keeping Track Of Tax Deductions Thru The Year

Is there any good way to track deductions through the year? I'm not quite sure how to do it in Quicken. I could use excel but I wish there was an easier way. I want to know now if it would be better to do some home improvements this year or wait til next year.

Okay, I answered my own question: just discovered the "Tax Planner" in Quicken. Cool beans!
