    Standard Food Deduction - Receipts

I kept all my food receipts for 2015 as I had planned to claim actual food expenses, but I have decided to just claim the standard deduction. From what it looks like, I don't need to keep the food receipts. I just wanted to clarify before I throw them out (both daycare and personal). Thank you!

As long as you have good logs of meals served, you should be fine without them. If you haven't kept good logs of meals served, you can recreate it with attendance records. This is what I do, as I choose to buy family and daycare food on one receipt. And I feed breakfast, lunch and dinner and my family eats those meals also. So it would be hard for me to do actual expenses. Much easier for me on standard deduction.

If you use the standard meal allowance rate you do not need to save any food receipts.
