    Military Housing

Hello, I have a quick question.

I run my daycare out of our house but it is in off-base privatized military housing. Because of this we do not pay any utilities expenses so I cannot claim that however I can claim my phone and internet bill since those are payed by me correct?

Also, can I still use time/space percentage since it is military housing and but we don't actually pay anything to live here? Nor do we ever pay for the maintenance. My husbands BAH payment is removed directly from his paycheck. TIA. Just not sure how to work this out for upcoming taxes.

We've never lived in military housing so we get our BAH. I would consider it this way... you pay your housing monthly rent upfront. You don't live there free. Your husband's BAH is your rent. KWIM?

That's what I thought as well...but we never even actually see it on his LES so it's like we aren't actually getting it....therefore we have no 'proof' as to what we are paying. Since it PPV housing it goes straight to them every month and we don't even know how much BAH he is paying (without looking it up online)...here in CA as an E5 with dependents it comes out to about $2300

The IRS Child Care Audit Technique Guide says you can deduct your time-space percentage of property tax and mortgage interest. You may also deduct a portion of your other house expenses, following a complicated formula. See the Guide here: http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-...axexemptincome
