Seperate or joint tax info to DCPs?

Have a DCF that is an unmarried couple. They just got a joint account. Before this month DCM always paid me out of her account, so all the receipts had her name only on it. Now they have both names because they're both on the checks. At the end of the year do I need to do 2 child care expense forms (one for just DCM and one for DMC & DCD) or just one for both the whole year?

I would put the child's name on it and let the parents figure it out.

I print out one PER child and the parents can figure out their own. I put both parents names on it ONLY if both parents signed the enrollment form. Otherwise it's issued only to the parent that paid the invoices.

I think only one of them can claim the expenses anyways.

Yes, only one can claim them. I am wondering if the OP has the same fear I do. My fear is that both parents will and then it will look like MY income was wrong on my taxes. I know it shouldn't look that way it should be caught on the parents, but really you never know how it will be entered in the system.

Meh... not something I would stress about...

ANY parent can claim whatever they want to claim. If the IRS questions it, they are going to require proof from them before they come to me for verification.

If they do have to come to me for verification, I have the proper proof and documentation to support any income and expenses I have.

I do have parents sign and date the tax form I give to them so that I can add that "proof" to my documentation.

Because they are unmarried only one can claim the credit. You have two choices: 1) Give a receipt to the mother based on what she paid and give another receipt to both parents with only the child's name on it. 2) Give one receipt to both parents with only the child's name on it.

I usually do 1 receipt with the child's name on it. Just a situation I hadn't run into before.
              Thanks
