    Married--Filing Separately Or Together

Is there any difference for being married and filing taxes separate vs. together? I will be opening daycare next year, since I'm currently at a center saving up $$$ for our future home to begin my career, and wonder if it is easier to file taxes seperately each year or together. I just got married this year so we do have the option to file together next month.

I just got married this last year too. Everything I've looked up through google searches seems to indicate that filing together is better. The only reason I found to file separately is in the case of one person having debt that the other wants no responsibility over.

The first couple of years we were married I completed our taxes both ways just to see and it was always better to file together, though I don't remember why, it just was.

        Married, filing jointly

You are almost always better off filing jointly. You can calculate your taxes both ways to see which way comes out better for you.
