    Teen Babysitter Taxes

Can I ask a question for my 13 year old daughter? She babysat last year for a family at their home. She made $688. Does she need to file taxes? I've been searching around and come up with conflicting info.

    Thanks,

    Kelly

No, she didn't make enough. I thought the cutoff was $3000 but Tom told me it was actually $6000.

Individuals who are dependents and earn less than $6,200 in 2014 do not have to file a tax return or pay federal income taxes.
