Tom I am hoping you can help me. My son adopted the 2 grandkids in Nov before that he was their foster parent. He has the SS number with the old names on. He has not had time to go get new card with either a new name or hopefully a new number.

Can he go ahead and file his taxes with the old number and names ??? Last year he had to prove he was a foster parent. so I was afraid it would slow everything down again.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. I'd recommend he call the IRS directly on this one.
