    Tax Confusion with CPA

I have had the worst luck finding a CPA that understands how to do daycare taxes.

One of my provider friends referred me to a CPA to use for this year.

Well I talked in full detail with her today and I asked her if she is familiar with MMK, she says no.

I told her how it figured all of my T/S% and what not and she said NO, it does not work like that. I want you to bring me the full 100 cost of all of your receipts. I don't understand how this would work out correctly?

What should I do here? I am so lost. My taxes are so messed up, I am in the middle of amending my 2011 and 2012. The last CPA I used did my taxes all wrong.

I feel for you... I had to "educate" my preparer about child care stuff too.

(Mine had tried to tell me I HAD to give my workers a 1099, said I didn't have to do payroll and all that.)

What I did was refer her to Tom's website and gave her the tax prep book he had out that year.

I think she learned a lot.

UGH I did tell her about TOm and she said, she didn't have time this year to educate herself for me. I guess I can understand, but I told her that she should not try to do taxes she does not understand.

She may refuse to do my taxes now... I am sooooo frustrated.

Your CPA may or may not be doing your taxes correctly. If all she wants is to see all of your receipts so she can calculate your deduction properly, then she may be doing it correctly. If you are not comfortable with what she is doing, ask her to show you in writing anything that supports her position. If you are convinced that she is wrong, seek out another tax preparer.
