Accrued or Paid Utilities?

I know this answer is aomewhere- but I can't find it and I'm feeling too lazy to look for my Tom Copeland book I started in August last year, so do I claim the 5 months of accrued utilities or the 4 months we actually paid in 2012? Thanks!

Claim utilities that you paid for during the 4 months you were open, even though the first bill is for a month that you weren't open.
