2012 or 2013?

I know this is listed somewhere, but do I claim a utility bill that was billed in 2012 but paid in 2013? Starting mid year, I'm just figuring if I'll claim for the 6 months I was open, or just 5 months since I didn't pay for Dec. until 2013. TIA!

You claim for when it was paid, so 2013. Same thing with income - if a parent paid for January 2013 on December 31, 2012, it's 2012 income.
