I didn't want to give it out this year, but the IRS website was down for a couple of weeks right at the end/beginning of the year so I wasn't able to get an EIN #. I am just wondering if I can get one now, and use that or if I have to keep using my Social Security number because that is what I gave the parents this year...

You can get an EIN at any time. I got mine after 13 years of business.

I'd recommend getting your EIN now and start using it immediately. It doesn't matter that some parents already have your SS#. You can use your EIN right away.
