What Is My Employer State ID Number?

I am filling out my w-2's. It's been a couple years, so stupid question, but what is my state ID number I put on their w-2's?

Is it the number for my withholding tax account with the state of WI?

That is an EIN. You have to apply for the EIN through the IRS. It is connected with your SS#, so instead of giving out your SS you give the EIN. Here is the link to get one, you can get on right away. Hope this helps!

Thanks melilley, but I have an EIN already. I was looking for my State ID number, not federal.
