    Grandkids

I am licensed 6 am to 9 pm on weekdays. The state pays for the grandkids childcare until 9 though they often spend the night because dad works nights.

I do not claim dinner on the food program because we do not want our family meal bothered.

Am I right I can claim them for time share purposes until 9 Would it also be reasonable to claim the dinner and bed time snack if it is a Monday - Friday.

I assume because I am not licensed weekends that is grandma time.

Whatever you can't claim on the food program you can still claim under the standard meal rate through the IRS.

For example, I'm on the food program and I only claim breakfast at 7am, morning snack at 9am, lunch at 11:30am and evening snack at 3pm through the food program but I still serve an extra meal at 5pm and sometimes even a 3rd snack after that if I still have children that late and they are still hungry. Although I can't claim the 5pm meal or the 3 rd snack through the food program I still claim all of these meals at the end of the year.

Remember, claim the money you get from the food program as Other Income and claim ALL OF THE MEALS (including the meals that you claimed for the food program) on your taxes. Just because the food program paid you for some meals doesn't mean you can't claim those same meals on your taxes.

As for the rest ... that's a Tom question.

Consider the time you are being paid for your grandchildren as business time. Otherwise it's personal time. If you are serving meals during business time you can deduct them as a business expense. If they spend the night and you are not being paid for that time, it's personal time and no food is deductible during those hours.
