Do I File Jointly or Separately

    Hi,

I am doing after school care for a year now for one boy. I have been giving receipt for care.
The problem is that for the last 4 years we have been owing money to IRS, because, my husband's payroll office is calculating less tax than what they have to.
This year we might have to face that same problem.
To avoid this, can i file my income separetely. Does it help my help suitaion.
Do i qualify for Earned Income Credit?

    Thanks.

You are almost always better off filing jointly, rather than separately. If you do file separately it won't solve your problem, because as a family you still are not having enough withheld throughout the year.
