So some silly stupid head (a criminal, not someone we know), smashed the window of my van. Can I claim the cost of repair as a vehicle exspense.

You could only count the cost of the repair to the damage of your van if you use the actual expenses method of claiming vehicle expenses. You cannot count this expense if you use the standard mileage method.
