    extra meals

    I care for my grandchildren in the evening and since Sept I have been paid for this service I will not do the food program for dinner They are also here all days for preschool.

    The question I know I can take the expense for the extra snack in the morning so can I charge for the 3rd meal and bed time snack?

    I am assuming since I am not licensed for weekend care and the state does not pay me for Saturdays. That evening I am just a grandma and may not take the expense???
    It:: will wait

    Grandma

    Once you are being paid to care for children, you are in business and must report your income and can claim expenses. Since you are the grandmother for the child in your care, we have to be careful in deciding when you are in business and when you are acting personally as a grandmother.

    During the hours you are being paid for the child, you have a business hat on and can claim food expenses for the child. (I am assuming that you are being paid a fair market value for your work.) This can be on Saturday or any day. If you aren't being paid, then you can't count any expenses for those hours the child is with you.
