My laptop died as a result of a child spilling a drink and it splashing up on it. It is not repairable though I can still pay to get the data off of it. It was only 4 years old

I replaced it and another computer in the house. I use both of them for business

the laptop is 80% business and the other one maybe 30 % business.


question Can I deduct a portion of both computers?
Is it a problem the dead computer is less than 5 years old

Yes, you can claim expenses for both computers. It doesn't matter how old the broken computer is.
