    Allowed Deductions for 2011

So if my understanding is correct since i was ready for kids in 2011 even though none were enrolled i can still deducte expenses for the things i had to buy to get set up. Can i still deduct anything else other than that? Also since i am on a food program can i still deduct grocery's?

If you were ready to care for children in 2011 and were telling others you were ready (advertising), then you were in business in 2011, even though you didn't have kids enrolled. Therefore, you can show zero income on Schedule C and deduct expenses you had. If you bought food in 2011 for the children I wouldn't deduct this, because you will count it as part of claiming your standard meal allowance in 2012.
