    Question about mileage

I got a Cost-co membership for Christmas! I am very happy about this because I can now buy a lot of the things that I serve for snacks, etc, in big portions. I use the standard deduction for food so I'm not asking about those expenses...I'm curious about the ability to deduct the mileage for those trips. I would say that most of the food that gets bought there gets eaten by daycare kids...some is eaten by my DD because she is "part" of the daycare. A bit is eaten by DH and I but not the majority by any stretch of the imagination. If if weren't for daycare, I wouldn't be bothering to have the Costco membership and make the drive, etc.

Are these drives to Costco able to be counted as more than 50% business because most of the food is for daycare and most the supplies are for daycare and if it weren't for daycare I wouldn't be going there?
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I asked the same thing about my Sam's Club membership and the drive to get there (for me it is about 85 miles one way).

I deduct all the miles I drove since the primary reason was for daycare. I couldn't find the thread I asked in but here is a similar one:

85 miles! that's a lot more than my drive, . Mine is just across town, but it's more than I usually drive for groceries.

      thanks, blackcat!

As long as the primary purpose (more than 50% of the reason) for going to Costco is business, then you can count it as a business trip. If you buy more stuff for your business than family, it's a business trip. The membership fee is not deductible.
