Paying County Taxes On The Business?

Last year was the first year I filed taxes for my business. I had a separate tax form to fill out for my LLC and I had to list the value of my business's equipment, vehicle, etc.

Today, I got a bill from both my city and county to pay taxes on my business (valued at 7300...which is I guess the number I filed on those forms). It's the same county tax form that I get for my house. Here is my question- isn't this like double dipping? I pay county taxes on my home already and now I have to pay more, even though the daycare and my home are one in the same? Thanks for any advice!

    Local tax

Many cities and counties are seeking to raise more money through taxes and have passed laws that tax business property. In your case, they are taxing your furniture, appliances, etc that is used in your business. Property taxes you pay are on your home, this tax is on your business property.
You should only be paying tax on the business portion of your property. In other words, if you have a sofa worth $1,000 and your time-space percentage is 40%, the business portion is $400. $400 should be used as the amount of business property subject to tax.
