    Making Your Own Curriculum

How do you go about making your own curriculum? I noticed that at least one member did that. I am guessing you use the state standards, and some reading books, but what else do you use and what are some of the steps in putting it together?

I make my own curriculum but I use resources that I had from the public schools. I taught kindergarten in the public schools before this, so I basically follow similar themes but I take them down to a pre-k level. I also pick the easiest sight words to expose kids to, since I know what they'll need in kindergarten.

Your state should have a website for help. Themes, whatever type you pick, are the easiest way to organize.

Let me know if you need any hints for certain topics within content areas (social studies, science, etc.)

I get preschool workbooks from the dollar tree. They have easy pull out pages, and the papers are similar to what my daughter does in Kindy, but for preschoolers. There have books on letters, numbers, shapes, colors etc.
