I suppose I'm not an avid reader as much as a browser. As a self-proclaimed DIY-er I can't resist good art books, home decor and repurposing manuals. I love poetry books such as The Gift and some of Rumi's works translated by Daniel Ladinsky. Also, I'm a ****er for books about marriage, budgeting, spirituality and family matters (i.e. Things I wish I knew before I was Married, Good Cent$ (written by two stay at home moms that learned how to cut costs with coupons, energy efficiency strategies, etc.), Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God by Francis Chan and His Needs, Her Needs for Parents.

Above All, The Bible. I have an awesome NIV for "Busy Moms" that has 5 min. reflections relevant to our hectic lives and schedules that keeps me afloat :-)

    Happy Reading!

Erma Bombeck, Forever Erma. I wanted some light, easy reading while on vacation recently and this fit the bill perfectly. Her writing is truly timeless.

Also if anyone is on good reads you can PM me and I'll send you my info so we can be "friends" there. Seems like lots of us have similar taste.

I love both of those series. I was a little upset when they cast Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher for the movie.

I just finished "The Casual Vacancy' by JK Rowling. It took me 2 months to finish it! I'm glad I read it but it took forever to get into it.
Right now I'm reading "Son" by Lois Lowry. It's about the mother to the boy in "The Giver". So far it's a really easy read and it's good!

I really liked Son, the first part much more than the second two.

Just finished Margaret Atwoods "The Handmaids Tale".

I was pleasantly horrified if that makes sense. It was enthralling. I tried to explain it to dh but I ended up wanting to punch him..poor fella. :: it was the book talking.

If anyone loves a whodunit with a bit of the supernatural and somewhat of a police procedural, try Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child's Agent Pendergast novel. He is one of the best characters ever written.

It has been recommended to me many times over the years but I read the synopsis and knew that it was going to make me mad. And it did. But ina way that I enjoyed.

I just finished Maeve Binchey's last book "A Week In Winter" I always found her books to be a bit old fashioned but a good rainy day cuppa read. I enjoyed it and got a little teary at the end. RIP Maeve.

I also just finished "Bared To You" It was one of those "if you like 50 Shades you might like this" Well, I HATED 50 Shades so I resisted. However picked it up yesterday on a whim and didn't put it down until this morning. Much, much better than 50 Shades - if you are in to that sort of book.

I've also been doing a lot of re-reading lately - A Wrinkle In Time, Harry Potter, etc.

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. I bought Dark Places when on vacation and its really good.

I also got Parenting: illustrated with Crappy Pictures by amber Dusick. OMG its so funny, if you don't mind foul language then this is a book for you (crappy boy and crappy baby...) its an easy read funny book that shouldn't be read aloud. Her blog is crappypictures.com
