    Parents Speeding On Way To Daycare

    Just wondered if anyone had this issue. I have an in-home family daycare. This morning I was watching as my daughter was waiting for the bus on the corner in our subdivision. As I'm watching her waiting, a car comes around the corner. Behind that car is another car right on her tail, driving very fast, coming around the corner on 2 wheels. The first car pulled into my neighbors house and the next car came zipping down the street and yup, you guessed it, right into my driveway. This is a mom that I'm already having issues with because the dcb is having issues adjusting here. She came in and was oh, I"m so late blah blah. I told her that I saw her come around the corner and she needs to cool it. Told her that there are too many kids around here to drive like that. That is one of my pet peeves. The speed limit is 25 mph. There are kids everywhere. Make me so mad when parents drive like that. Would they drive like that if it were there child waiting for the bus there? Has anyone had that? What did you do?

    First you talk to them... then if it is a habit you can call the police and tell them at ---- every morning you see 2 cars speeding right past the bus stop. Could you please patrol our neighborhood at that time for a few weeks to slow them down?
    It:: will wait

      When I talked to her this morning, she acted like she was irritated by it. I don't care, if a child gets hit because she's running behind a couple of minutes how would she feel then?

        I've had to do this a bunch of times over the years. I live on a school zone street that's also a very busy street. It gives me so much pleasure when I see the local police pulling over speeding cars out here. Does that make me mean? ::

          I too, live in the school zone.

          I have called the police on a current daycare mom who refused to listen to my warnings.

          I told her. Many times. She didn't believe me.

          She got a ticket for no insurance, speeding, failure to stop, and some sort of 'fix-it' ticket for a broken tail light.

          I don't care if that makes me mean. I have children of my own on these roads and highways. I have family and friends on them as well. Driving is a privilege and one I think too many people don't take seriously enough.

              I don't care if I sound mean either. When this woman is doing 40 around the corner and it's a 25mph speed limit through a residential neighborhood, I'm not going to be shy to call her out on it. If she is that dense, then she deserves to be chewed on me a bit.

                This reminds me when all of my daycare parents a couple years ago *all* received a ticket within a 2 week period for speeding around the corner from me. After I warned them all to slow down, the police watch that area and give out tickets on a regular basis.

                Haven't had to much of a problem since, but I know one of my current daycare parents has had words with another parent that she sees speeds all the time on her way here. I'm sure her ticket will be coming soon too.

                  What she said.

                  Some people can't see past their own little world. I had to speak with several parents about going too fast in the parking lot of the Center I worked at. I never had a parent miffed about it - more embarrassed than anything.

                  Don't ever be shy about a safety matter. Make note of the time and call the police if they don't cool it.

                    I have a dcp that does this. I told her that parents in the neighborhood were complaining. I never thought to ask for a patrol car, great idea!

                        I have had this problem too. I don't notice it much but I know some of my dcprents are speeding down my very rural street and it's probably ticking my neighbors off. One dcm would come roaring into the drivieway and I was afraid she'd wipe out a kid - the same mom even hit a deer!! Really, at 25 MPH you shouldn't be killing deer but when you are going 40MPH that's gonna happen, nitwit!
