Should I Report? What Would Happen?

Let me start by saying I absolutely would move my kids, but I can't, all the daycares have waiting lists, and i only have 3 weeks of school left.
My current daycare has 3 locations, one is shut down because an employee taped a baby to the floor.
They have recently taken over my daycare, and it has gone down hill. I show up and my baby hasn't been fed. He'll have dry poop on his onesie and a full diaper of it too. They are regularly over ration, but I never had the sense to document the time and date for this stuff. Now there is a serious parking issue. It is limited because after 5 a local dance studio takes the daycares back spots. The traffic is so bad, cars are double parking, blocking ppl in, there are lines to back out and to park. adults are having to wait by their cars before they can even venture into the building before they can even get their kids! It is a huge safety concern of mine. I brought it to the director's attention, the spots in the back are free all day, just have staff park all of 5-6 spots further away, then you have those spots open for parents, not traffic, no lines to park, no fear of a kid getting loose and being run over by a parent hurrying to back out so another can take her spot. I brought it up to the director she is like "well I have kids too, what about MY kids?" she totally blew me off. I try to contact the owner constantly, but she will never call and she's never there. I'm not suprised the other center got away with taping down kids, and restraining their arms behind their back, they have no supervision. Should I report this daycare or not? If I do what will happen? I am most upset by the fact that anything can go on here, and there is no way of reaching a higher authority to get it straightened out.

No way No how will I ever put my baby back in that place knowing what you know and with your child diapers full of poop. You got to be kidding that you have no other choice!!!!!!!!! Parents like you make me gringe!!!!!! You have a choice. Stay home if you have no other choice and explain to your boss or family or friends. Someone im sure could help. Or you know what DSS i guess if you lose your job because MY CHILDREN COME FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry but im so livid with this post saying you have no choice. I deal with parents not caring about their kids like bringin g them in soaked diapers but I wont term because I know I take darn good care of those kids even when the parents done. So my advise is LEAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      What state are you in?

Perhaps, we could point you in the right direction as to who you need to contact to have these issues addressed and corrected immediately for hte sake of these children.

If I were you, I would see if you could find a family friend or stay at home mom who could haelp you out for your last three weeks of school so you do not hav eto have your child return to this daycare. If you were paying daycare costs to this center, I would think your funds would be better in someone else's hands....just like your child would be!

Good luck and please let us know if we can help you out by findin gthe correct agency to report this to.

If your child isn't getting fed or taken care of properly, you really do need to work hard at trying to get someone else to watch your child. You can ask your neighbors, friends, and family to watch your child for the 3 weeks you need care for. You might be able to have your child go to one friend for one week, grandmoms for another week, and the neighbor for another week. Or you could see if someone will come to your house to watch your child. You can check on www.care.com to see if you can find someone. If you go to church, ask everyone there if they can help you out. Ask at your school if anyone can help you. I'm assuming that you go to college. You might be able to post a childcare needed flyer at you college. Put some flyers all over the neighborhood, post on Craigslist, put ads in the papers, etc. Then look for a better long term childcare facility over the next 3 weeks or so. Which I'm sure you have tried to do. It's easier for us to suggest this to you than for you to actually be able to find someone willing to help you. I know. I've been in situations PLENTY of times when NOONE will help me. My concern is mainly that you said they aren't feeding your child correctly and have been taken over by the people who had staff taping kids down! Yeah, I'd do EVERYTHING I could to get my child out of there ASAP!!

You should definately report your concerns to the licensing agency that gave the center their license. I don't know who that would be in your area. Here, it's under a branch of Department of Social Services. I'm sure that if you call Social Services in your area, someone can give you the number you need to call to report them to. You could google for home daycare license or daycare center license. The company that gives home daycare licenses shouold be able to tell you who to call - or you might be able to report it to them.

Here, if a person calls with a complaint/concern, DSS has a specific time frame - I think it's between 1 and 3 days- that they absoutely must go unannounced to that daycare and do an inspection regarding the complaint. Depending on the situation, if the licensing agency finds the complaints to be true, they do what they are legally allowed to do to rectify the situation. Typically it is to give the center a certain amount of time to fix the problem and the agency performs random checks more frequently. Or if it is bad enough, they shut the center down immediately.

If you have voiced your concerns to the staff at the daycare, I'm sure they will immediately realize who turned them in. You don't know how they will react to you having turned them in. However, for the overall well-being of the children in the center, someone should report the center.

I would definitely report the center, yes. But first and foremost, you need to get your child out of there. Find a babysitter for the next 3 weeks, look on craigslist, care.com, etc as others have suggested. And if that does yield any results then stay home with him. No job is more important than your child- you could not pay me any amount of money to leave my child in a place like the one you described.

What state are you in? Im sure we could help more if we knew. Good luck!

Your first concerns are reportable.... I would have found other care and removed my child.

But unfortunately lack of parking is not a licensing rule anywhere that I know of.

it is good business to correct the problem but not a reportable offence.

I don't mean to be rude but WTH are you thinking leaving your child there. The bulk of your post is in regards to parking not the welfare of your own child??????

              Shakes head

Yes, report. It's a no brainer.

just thought of something most businesses are required by the city to have adequate parking. They probably had it because of their back parking lot. check with the city and see if there is such a rule. If so they may be required to not let the dance studio use the back lot until the childcare is closed.

I have a small Family Child Care Home and your post is very upsetting.

Please do anything within your power to remove your child from this place and find the correct place to report your concerns. It sounds awful. Think of your child without a choice, without a voice.

I hope that you can resolve this so your child is in a safe place that cares about his welfare. Please report this for all the children warehoused there.

I would take my child out of there, and find a friend, or home daycare that will take him for the short time you have left.

I know there's a way to get him out of there asap. The only problem is the two week notice. I don't know what the legal issues with that are... I don't want you to have to pay for two weeks, then pay someone else too. But, I don't think it's a good place for your child.

Hopefully they will lose a lot of enrollment from this, and realize they are mishandling everything.

Also, you might want to go to the media with this. The media loves this kind of thing.
