I Quit My Job Of 6 Years Today

And I don't know how to feel. I am trying to start up a home daycare and all that jaz. I am sooooo nerveous. What if I don't get kids? What if my rates are too high? What if I can't compete with other home daycares in my area? What if this was a HUGE mistake??????

I've been with my company for 6 years. I have an almost 2 year old and I'm married. I work 9 hours during the week. I also work weekends. If they need me I have to come in. I've worked from 6am to 1am the next morning then had to come back in at 7:30am. I never see my baby or my husband.

I want to do contracted hours (why be up and dressed at 7am if my first kid doesn't get here until 8, KWIM?) but I am so worried that won't fly around here.

I want/need this to work so bad. My boss said I could come back if this doesn't work out, but I don't want that to happen! If I get 3 toddlers or 2 babies, I know this can work. I can have 5 kids. If I get 5 then I would be making more than I do now.

Am I crazy to leave a job I've had for 6 years (stable pay, job security, ect) for something that may not even work out? Sorry for the rant, I'm just having a panic attack!

I felt the same way 2 years ago when I left my really good job to be home with my children. The first few months were slow. It took about a month to get my first kid and about 8 months to be full. 2 years later I make more money than I ever have and I love what I do (most days ) and most importantly I'm here for my kids when they get home from school and my youngest doesn't have to go to daycare but can stay home with me all day. I'm not missing out on them growing up but here with them and experiencing it all. It's a chance you have to take. it's good that you have a job to go back to if needed. Stick with it and I'm sure it will work out just fine for you.

    Good luck

Not crazy if you love kids. If you are in it for money then yep maybe crazy . J/K ... I was a nervous wreck all the same questions when I started 6 years ago. You will slide right into it trust me. As for the rates you may have to adjust them until you get started but you will manage.

      Good luck to you!

I'm really doing it for my family and my mental/physical well being . But, I still need to pay the bills.

:: Well I can't say that it will do much for your mental state some will drive you mental! BUT some really take your heart and bless you with the knowledge that you are doing the right thing!

Best decision I ever made...but I'm an ECE so this was my profession outside the home as well. I would suggest starting slow and build your way up to 5 kids. I started out with 2 kids and then added a 3rd and that's enough for me right now. It's a HARD job but worth it!!

            Best of luck
