    How Much And How Often?

How much and how often would you say a 6 week old, formula baby should be eating? On average, in your experience.

For formula babies... I would start with two ounces every two hours. Once they get to the three month mark I try to move towards 3-4 oz every 2.5-3 hrs. I roughly do an ounce for every month of life every three hours once they get past the newborn.

So a 5.5 month old child would have 5.5 oz's every three hours. That's my starting point. YMMV depending on the kid.

At 6 weeks, I would think 2-3 oz, every 2-3 hours. I would make a 2 oz bottle and see if the baby finishes it. If they still seem hungry, then make another 2 oz's.

It depends on how much baby weighs. At 6 weeks old my FF baby was 14lbs (10lbs at birth). The AAP recommends 2.5oz per lb of weight in a 24 hour period. So, my 14lb baby would eat 35oz/day. If he eats every 2 hours (normal for newborn) then that's 2.9oz per feed. Just as an example.
