I actually am always sad for school to start. I love having my own kids home and being able to always seem them during the day. I hate having to rush through our mornings during school and sending them out the door, and then having them have to share me with others when they come home and want to tell me about their day.

Working has always been hard for me (whether in home or not) because I am not one that can juggle both. I do excellent at one or the other. I am a great SAHM or a great worker but can't balance both. So since my load is lighter in the summer I get to spend more time with my kids which I absolutely love!

We opened this June, so this will be my first time without school-age kids. It will be nice to have the same age group, but **** financially to lose all those kids. We're doing before & after school, but it will still be less money. However on the plus side, kids will actually nap during naptime and not just watch TV and have "quiet time" that usually lasts about 30 minutes if I'm lucky! It's going to be quite a change next Tuesday, but hopefully for the better!

We have 14 days and I'm not excited.

        1. far more drama in the morning with people trying to get breakfast, make lunches, and get out the door

        2. driving to take kids to and from school

        3. far fewer outings

        4. more hectic at night trying to get dinner on the table with tired/cranky kids underfoot.

Wow, you start school way earlier then we do. We don't start until the day after Labor Day. I will be sad because my granddaughters will go back to school and I won't be able to see then as much.

We also don't start back until the day after Labor Day. 28 days and a wake-up until school starts... Not that I'm counting. ::

I'm excited for my ds to go back to school! This last week or two have been particularly rough. He's hitting the "bored" bump. Right now I only have one other SA, and those two are starting to get at eachother's throats. That boy is older, so has a tendency to think he can be the boss. Of course I quickly rain on his parade, but still days sometimes get long.

When school starts back up I will have another SA who will be with his mom during the school year. It will be wonderful to have that friend come back.

I also am looking forward to quiet mornings AFTER the mad rush to ensure everyone is out the door and on the bus on time. Thankfully our school is PreK-12 and all the grades ride one bus. That translates to the fact my older DD (going into 10th grade) will be a HUGE help!

Like PP's have mentioned, I look forward to a smaller grocery bill, but with that comes smaller paychecks from some families, and smaller food program checks...
Give a little love to a child, and you get a great deal back.

I'm looking forward to school starting (have a month to go though!) but not looking forward to getting up an hour earlier this year since DD moves to middle school. I like the routine of the school year. I get my full load of daycare kids back in September and my own youngest is starting Kindergarten this year so it will be weird not having him here every afternoon (but nap time will be quieter, LOL!).

I'm not looking forward to it. Right now I have a blissful 1.5 hours in the morning with SILENCE in my house because my kids sleep until 8am or when the dck's start arriving and wake them up. To exchange that for trying to get two kids out the door to two different schools makes me depressed.
